Being online is essential for accessing education, employment, financial services, healthcare, and staying connected with others. Yet millions across the UK remain digitally excluded, unable to access the internet, essential services, or the opportunities that come with being connected.
There are many reasons why people don’t engage with digital technology:
This digital divide affects students too—especially those facing financial hardship. Without reliable internet access, students may struggle to participate in online learning, access university resources, or stay in touch with support networks.
That's why we're offering free SIM cards through the National Databank. These SIMs provide mobile data to help students stay connected, access online resources, and participate fully in university life. By supporting digital inclusion, we're not just giving out SIM cards, we're helping students cross the digital divide and unlock their potential.
We believe that no student should be left behind because of data poverty, and we’re proud to offer free SIM cards with mobile data, texts, and calls to students experiencing financial hardship—thanks to the UK National Databank, a nationwide initiative tackling data poverty.
The National Databank was created by the Good Things Foundation and provides free SIM cards to people who can’t afford to stay connected. These SIMs come preloaded with data—helping you access essential services, stay in touch with loved ones, and continue your studies.
