Library and Cultural Services at the University of Essex comprises three sites located in Colchester (where main services are based), Loughton, and Southend. It also encompasses the Art Exchange gallery, Lakeside Theatre, ESCALA, the University Art Collections, and the Essex Student Journal, all of which are based at Colchester. 

Our Library and Cultural Services teams provide access to high-quality educational and research resources, a wide range of learning environments, and specialist informational and subject specific support. With award-winning customer service, an array of ways to contact us (including live chat, phone, and email), one-to-one appointments with librarians, access to a vast collection of physical and online resources, the Library is here to offer academic support to help you through your degree and beyond.

Our users, both staff and students, are at the centre of our services, and we work in partnership to develop and deliver world class library services for the University of Essex. The Library Advisory Group (LAG) invites users to have their say and help shape the future of the Library, and the feedback collected is reviewed by the our senior management team and fed into future service developments.
