Information on Booking a Study Space in the library

Albert Sloman Library Colchester

From Tuesday 27th July 2021, students and staff of the university no longer need to book a study space if you wish to study or browse in the library. You can visit as often as you need to and stay for as long as you like.

If you would like to book an Individual Study Pod, you can do so here: https://libcal.essex.ac.uk/r
These study pods are located in the ground floor Reading Room and on the 2nd floor. Further information can be found on our help pages

When you visit us during our opening hours, a member of library staff will greet you at the entrance. You will be asked to continue to wear a face covering whilst in the library and will need to use our 'Quick Check In' service for track and trace purposes.

Our spaces remain individual quiet study only and we ask you to sit at the desks which have been marked for social distancing. However you can choose which of these you sit at and on any floor of your choosing. You are also able to move between floors.

You can borrow a laptop from our Laptop Loans service on the ground floor Library Reading Room for use in your study space.

Books can be borrowed using our self-service machines on the Ground Floor, where our Click and Collect service will also continue.

Please remember to keep personal belongings with you at all times and do not leave belongings unattended at study spaces.
