Courses introduction

The O’Reilly editorial team has taken the most popular videos and made them easier to discover as curated groups of on-demand courses. They specifically target the most in-demand tech disciplines, to help users develop foundational skills. Here’s a sampling of what you’ll find.

Software developer
Build your core skills across programming languages, tools, and methodologies.

Data/ML engineer
Know how to store, process, and analyze data and empower ML to leverage it.

Finding Courses

There are several ways to find Courses on the O´Reilly platform. On the Home Page, you can browse Courses. You can browse Courses by topics. You can search the database, on the result list select the Courses filter.

On the Courses information page you will find:

  • Click links to search other items by these authors, publishers or topics.
  • Click START or CONTINUE to watch the video
  • Table of contents. When you finish playing a clip, you will be auto-advanced to the next clip. For each chapter and clip, there will be a progress bar and a checkmark when completed. You can then go to your personal History and continue where you ended. You can also put the whole video or separate chapters in a Playlist.
  • A video description. For select titles, there will also be resources such as links to the publisher’s website and access to supplemental content.

On the Courses video player page you will find:

  • The progress bar (on top of the screen)..
  • The video player controls. You can skip forward or backward, change quality and speed, use Picture In Picture (a smaller video player window appears, to be used on top of another page) and get full screen.
  • English-language videos published by O'Reilly offers translated closed captioning in Japanese, Traditional Chinese (Taiwanese), Simplified Chinese, Korean, French, German, and Spanish. Simply click the globe icon in the video player to select a language and choose other captions settings.
  • On the menu to the right you will find Table of Contents, Reader Settings and the option to add the video to a Playlist.
  • For select titles there will be a video transcript available.
