Awards

In 2023, we won ‘Outstanding research support by a member or team from Professional Services’ at the University's ‘Celebrating Excellence in Research and Impact Awards’ - 2023 winners | University of Essex

In 2023, our Art Exchange were nominated (and made it through to second round shortlist) in the Best Art Gallery category in the Muddy Stilettos Awards Essex 2023. Our Lakeside Theatre were also nominated (first round shortlist) in the Best Theatre/Arts venue category.

In 2023, 2022 and 2021, we achieved Gold in the Sustainable Essex Awards.

In 2021 we were again shortlisted for Outstanding Library Team at the THE Awards in recognition of our innovation and personalisation of services in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021 we won the Talis Advisory Board Strategic Initiative award for our work in partnership with academic staff to support blended and online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, members of the ESCALA and University Arts Collections team received an Excellence in Education (Collaborative) award for work with colleagues in the School of Philosophy & Art History and Art Exchange.

In 2021, members of the Scholarly Communications and Research Support team received an Excellence in Education (Collaborative) award for work with colleagues in Organisational Development on an online writing retreat for PhD students, Time to Write.

In 2020 and 2019, we achieved Gold in the NUS Green Impact Awards, having attained Silver in 2018 and Bronze in 2016.

In 2019, we were shortlisted for Outstanding Library Team at the THE Awards, in recognition of:

  • Work carried out in partnership with our Students' Union to make essential readings available online
  • Our successful programme of workshops for Postgraduate Taught students "On Track for your Masters"
  • Our Library Advisory Group, a participatory forum through which we gather rich feedback to shape our services around our users

In 2019, we were shortlisted for the SCONUL Library Design Awards, in recognition of:

  • Our approach to a series of building and refurbishment projects, designed to provide high quality, tech enabled spaces, including dedicated space for postgraduate students and supporting a range of different study preferences

In 2018, members of our Academic & Research Services team received an Excellence in Education Award for innovative practice in the area of information literacy teaching.
