Journal Articles

If you're looking for the latest research you will usually find this in academic journals. You can use the resources below to find reputable journal articles - some of the resources are full-text, but others only include citations, so you will need to check those in Library Search to find out if we have access to the relevant journal(s) via the publisher or another resource.

Journal Articles: Key Resources

JSTOR
Important full text archive of journals across most subject areas, including Education. Access is generally from when the journal was first published, but there is usually an embargo on full text access to recent content (typically around 3 years)

SAGE journals online
SAGE is an important publisher in Education, as well as allied fields across the social sciences such as Psychology, Linguistics, etc. Full text is usually from the first volume of each title to the current issue

Taylor and Francis Online (e-journal platform)
Routledge, Taylor & Francis are a major publisher in the area of education, and own some of the most important journals in the field. Access is generally to full text from 1997- (not all titles are subscribed to)

Includes three large, multidisciplinary databases: Arts and Humanities Citation Index (1975 - present), Social Sciences Citation index (1898 - present), and Science Citation Index (1970 - present). There are links to full text for some - but not all - content.

Journal Articles: Other Resources

APA PsycINFO
Includes references to journal articles, books and book chapters in psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines including education.

SCOPUS
Scopus generally indexes journal (and some book) content from 1996- onwards. Abstracts are provided and links to full text (not all articles are full text). Scopus has good search functionality and is useful for finding highly cited articles and authors.

Preprints & working papers, which are usually draft versions of journal articles, can also be useful sources and are usually available open access through sources like ERIC and EdArXiv
