The University sustainability sub-strategy states that we have a 'responsibility as an international University in educating future citizens, leaders, scientists, engineers and other professionals with the advanced knowledge and skills needed for global sustainable development' (University of Essex, 2021). As part of this, the University aim to embed sustainability into the curriculum where appropriate. Embedding sustainability into modules and reading lists can assist students by providing the skills and knowledge required to respond to climate threats and contribute to solutions.
As a library we developing our collection of resources relating to sustainability and encourage students and staff to suggest resources related to this topic to add to our collections.

UNESCO have created several useful documents on sustainability in education, these include their 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which can be used as a starting point to think about the themes around sustainability and how these can be incorporated into your teaching.
