All new guidance for increasing and measuring research visibility, citations, and responsible metrics! These pages have been completely revamped, so we'd encourage you to explore them thoroughly. Here are some quick links:
Increasing Research Visibility - quick tips, incorporating open research practice to increase visibility, and support from across the University.
Measuring Research Visibility - intro to metrics, citations, Altmetric, and Overton, with tips on using them to increase your visibility.
Online Research Profiles - introduces some commonly used researcher profiles and social media platforms, as well as providing support for using them.
The University no longer subscribes to the Altmetric Explorer. However, you can use the Altmetric Bookmarklet to access information about your publications.
Quick start: Simply install the tool, use it on the publication's DOI page, and click on the pop-up to go through to the Altmetric information page.
Further support: Find more information in our new guidance. If you require analytics using Altmetric Explorer, please contact the Research Services Team with details.
Create your ORCID and Google Scholar accounts and link them to the RIS. Due to their positive impact on research visibility (and a whole host of other benefits), the University requires all its researchers to have both and connect them to the RIS. Contact the Research Services Team for support.
The University Communications Team provides a wide range of support for getting your work our there, including guidance on social media, interview prep, marketing support, and more.
You don't have to be doing everything all at once. Find a few key things to try and see how they go. Ideally, find things that can easily fit into your current workflows and/or you are interested in. Persistence is the important factor!
