Open access collection of quality historical resources in medicine from some of the world’s leading medical libraries. The collection (which already numbers tens of thousands of items and is continuing to grow) includes digitised rare books, pamphlets, journals and films, with representative works from each of the past six centuries. It allows readers and scholars across a multitude of disciplines to examine the interrelated nature of medicine and society, both to inform contemporary medicine and to strengthen understanding of the world in which we live.

Digitised archive of administrative, financial, staff, estate and patient records from The Retreat in York - one of the most important institutions for the care and treatment of mental health patients. The archive spans the period 1792-2000, and includes over 650,000 digital images (note that patient records from 1920 onwards were excluded from the digitisation project). The original papers are held at the Borthwick Institute for Archives at the University of York.
