Decolonising the Curriculum

News and Media

The Library's collection of newspapers is modest, but does include some important Latin American titles (also a good collection from the former Soviet Union). These are mostly held in store - please check the catalogue for details or ask your liaison librarian

BoB also enables the compilation of playlists, like the one from University of Huddersfield, on Black Lives Matter, as part of its "Broaden my Bookshelf" project

More journalism, media & internet resources are listed on the Sociology and Politics subject guides

Film & Documentary

In addition to YouTube and Box of Broadcasts (see above), we also have access to Kanopy, a streaming service offering a wide range of films and documentaries, including many of potential interest for broadening & diversifying reading list content.

The search and browse functionality is currently quite limited, but if you find the film you are looking for you can fill out the request form asking the library to rent access to the title you need

British Film Institute offers access to quite a diverse range of free content through BFI Player, including Black Britain on Film and other documentary collections representing Chinese, Jewish and South Asian communities in the UK
