The library provides access to a range of online primary source archives which can be useful for some research topics in Art History. Links to a few of these archives are provided below, but you can find a more comprehensive listing in the History subject guide.

Archives of Sexuality and Gender
A significant collection of primary sources for the historical study of sex, sexuality, and gender. With material dating back to the sixteenth century, researchers and scholars can examine how sexual norms have changed over time, health and hygiene, the development of sex education, the rise of sexology, changing gender roles, social movements and activism, erotica, and many other interesting topical areas. First World War Portal
From personal collections and rare printed material, to military files, ephemera and artwork, The First World War highlights the experiences of soldiers, civilians and governments on both sides of the conflict and in multiple theatres of war. Covering an array of international perspectives, the resource showcases intimate personal narratives, wartime propaganda and recruitment material, the truly global reach of the conflict, and the role of women in war through various documentary and visual forms.
Gender : identity and social change
Essential primary sources documenting the changing representations and lived experiences of gender roles and relations from the nineteenth century to the present. This expansive collection offers sources for the study of women's suffrage, the feminist movement, the mens movement, employment, education, the body, the family, and government and politics.
Historical texts
Digitised versions of more than 460,000 texts from the 15th to the late 19th century. Includes the content of Early English Books Online (EEBO); Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) and 19th Century books from the British Library.

LGBT magazine archive
Archival runs of 26 of the most influential, longest-running serial publications covering LGBT interests. Includes the pre-eminent US and UK titles The Advocate and Gay Times, respectively. Chronicles more than six decades of the history and culture of the LGBT community. In addition to LGBT/gender/sexuality studies, this material also serves related disciplines such as sociology, political science, psychology, health, and the arts. Some publications may contain explicit content.

UK Parliamentary Papers
UKPP includes House of Commons & House of Lords sessional papers from 1715 to 2003, with supplementary material back to 1688 (Journals of the Commons and the Lords); Command papers 1833-2003; Hansard (parliamentary debates) 1803-2005 (Commons & Lords); Reports from committees of the Commons, 1715-1801. HCPP delivers page images and searchable full text for each paper, along with detailed indexing.

Women's magazine archive
An archival research resource comprising the backfiles of leading women's interest consumer magazines. Issues are scanned in high-resolution color and feature detailed article-level indexing. Coverage ranges from the late-19th century through to 2005 and these key primary sources permit the examination of the events, trends, and attitudes of this period. Among the research fields served by this material are gender studies, social history, economics/marketing, media, fashion, politics, and popular culture.
