Find out what's been happening in the library.

Your library is now open 24/7

From 1 October until the end of exams, all 6 floors of the Albert Sloman Library will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our exam-time 24/7 opening has always been popular, but as a result of collaborating with you at our Library Advisory Group and through the Students' Union, as well as listening to your feedback via the National Student Survey and social media, we’ve worked to introduce 24/7 opening throughout the academic year.

This means no more alarm bells at closing time, no more going home early evening at the weekend, and generally no more worrying about when we’ll be open! It’ll also mean all zones will be available at every time of the day or night, so no matter what kind of environment you like to study in, the Library will be here for you.

Our Helpdesk opening hours are also changing. We’ll now be here to answer your queries from 8am-8pm every weekday, and from 12pm-8pm every Saturday and Sunday. Don’t worry, even when we’ve gone home there’ll still be overnight staff here to help you make the most of the Library when you need to.

These changes don’t stop at the end of summer exams, as we’ll be extending our summer vacation hours to be open 8am-8pm every weekday, as well as 12pm-8pm every Saturday and Sunday. That means postgraduates and anyone else doing some summertime studying will have much greater access to our study spaces and resources in July, August, and September.

We think these changes will benefit the whole University, and we want to thank you for your part in making it happen.

Check our website for full details of Helpdesk and opening hours.
