Welcome to the new website, we hope you like it.

This summer, we’ve revamped the website to make it easier to use and fit in more with the University. We’ve not only changed the website aesthetically, but we’ve also moved to a new system, allowing us more control and empowering the staff to create the content they want to create, in the way they want, and making the website more responsive on mobile devices.

Searching our catalogue will remain much the same and much of the same content is still available.

Take a look around.

Library Blog – A great way to see what’s happening in your library, and what we’ve got planned.

Accessibility – Pages on making the most of the library, and how we can fit in with your needs.

My Account – Access to what you currently have checked out, allowing you to renew your books, and see what resources you can access.

Book a Librarian – Book one to one sessions with a librarian who specialises in your subject.

Contact Us – Get in touch with your general enquiries, by e-mail, by phone. You can even contact staff when the enquiry desk is closed.

Libraries – Find out more about your campus librarians and what’s happening at your campus’s library.

Search Library – Search our entire wealth of content. You can use the filters to refine your searches and find the resources you really need.

Southend Books – For students at Southend, look at all the content that The Forum gives you (You can still use Colchester’s content though!!)

Browzine – Browse journals by issue and easily read on mobile platforms. Why not download the app?

Databases – A great place to start if you want to approach your essay or exam topic down. We subscribe to a wide range of databases. Can be browsed by subject and by type (such as Statistics)

Reading Lists – Find your readings, week by week, and get help with the content on your course.

Need Help? – On the side of every page, help is just a click away

Request a Resource – If the library doesn’t have a copy of an item, or access to an online resource, we have a few tricks up our sleeve to get it for you.

Referencing – Help with referencing for all departments, from the physical process to referencing software.

Study and Research Support – Subject Guides to help with study and subject specific topics, written by subject dedicated librarians. Information Literacy to help searching, referencing, and all areas of academia. Research Support to help you with your Post-Graduate work within the world of academia.

Special Collections – With over 80 different collections, from local boat crafters to country wide politics to crime dramas, we might just have something to pique your interest.

Connect With Us – Join us on your social media platforms to stay in the learn and find out what’s happening in your library.

A-Z – This page shows a site map of every page. Can be useful when navigating the site if you’re looking for something specific.

We’ll also be happy to show you around the website at the enquiry if you want to find something specifically.

With all new things, we know it won’t be perfect, and we want to hear from you. You can send us an e-mail at libline@essex.ac.uk or fill in our Feedback Form to tell us what you think, what you would like to see, and how we can make the site more useful.
