How do you access your ebooks & articles? Do you come to the library website and browse? Do you look at your reading lists on Moodle and go from there? Do you Google the topic until you hit a resource that looks right? However you do it the Lean Library browser extension is there to help you.
Lean Library is a plugin for browsers that makes it easier for you to find available digital study materials, wherever and whenever you decide to study. Using Lean Library means you spend less time searching for research material and more time studying.
After downloading, the extension will notify you when you’re on a website that your library has a subscription for. Then, it’s just a single click to open the site through the library’s systems and get access to all licensed material on that site.
The browser extension shows an icon in the bookmarks bar. It works almost like a traffic light:

Want to take advantage of this free library service? All you have to do is download the plugin for your browser and associate it with the University of Essex Library Services.

Once you've downloaded it, you can also set up your personal preferences so it works exactly how you want it to.
If you use an Apple device, you will be able to download an app version of the plugin from the App Store. Just search for Lean Library and select Academic Browser.
You can now sign up for Table of Contents alerts on Journals when a new article is released.
When looking at articles and journals via Google Scholar, you will have to option to Subscribe for Table of Contents alerts.
This will sign you up to email alerts when new articles are released, and you can unsubscribe from these emails as well.
